Business Work Group(BWG) Update

On 28 May, the BWG hosted a virtual meeting for local Pastors.  The focus of the meeting was to determine the impact of COVID-19 and Hurricane Michael on the community and their congregations.  While impact was the initial focus, awareness of programs available for relief was also discussed.

The following were the top concerns identified:

1)  Systemic racism

2)  Lack of resources

3)  Lack of perceived concern from outside the community

4)  The need for corporate unity

5)  Personal accountability

6)  Paitence vs progress

The Group identified a few was to garner additional information:

1)  The establishment of an organizatinal list to ID local organizations and their mission, made available for distribution

2)  The establishment of subject matter experts (SMEs) who will be the go-to individuals/organizations for assistance information

3)  The establishment of set forums to distribute information on a regular basis

While pastoral participation was not as great as projected, the seminar was a success.  As a continued effort to identify shortcomings and solutions, the BWG will hold another seminar on Saturday, 30 May at 10:00 A.M CST.
