Keisha Jones (Outreach Team)  J Dia Greene (Education Lead), Tony Bostick (Business Lead), Janice Lucas, Donna Pilson (Outreach), Jan Booher

Donna

The mobile pantries must completely delplete in the one day, and the mobile food pantries are still working logistics during the media outreach effort to get people to come.

It would be beter to get Rebuild Bay to be a static pantry

Tony

Sheriff-Gatekeeper program is up and running, but it is not what it used to be. Spoke w Pastoer Nelson and Ton’s pastor. The Gatekeeper program calls the elderly and vulnerable from the Sheriff’s occice. If they don’t get an answer they send someone out to the home.

Janice

Does the literature drop-off for the Navigators make sense for information about registering for the Sheriff’s Gatekeeper program?

Tony

Could be included

Janice

Could also use a Google Form

Donna

We should have a release of information in order to give name, address and phone number. There was an implied release when a person called the Sheriff’s Office

Jan

It can just be the couple of sentences we put at the top of the survey.

Donna

Secure verbal permission over the phone. Record: verbal permission on X date taken by Y person.

Janice

Pastor Hooks could reach out to the other AME ministers

Tony

Greater Bethel, the Baptist Church and the AME Churches are connected

The Group discusses the times when their Work Groups will meet.

J Dia (Education)

DJ Big Boy to host a Town Hall for Youth to talk about COVID prevention. Tanya Hill said people who are still working are still concerned about summer care for their children. They used Girls, Inc and the Boys and Girls Clubs. Since the prison is on 12 hr shifts, their shifts will overlap. Big Boy thinks there is a better chance of broadcasting from Tampa than from Panama City.

K-12 follow - ups: Testing requirements have been waived for this school year. The 18 cr program is available. If the Glenwood and Millville students could opt for the 18 cr HS diploma and receive a standard diploma. This would help those students in 11th grade who have the GPA and academic record, but can’t pass the tests to receive a standard diploma rather than a completion certificate. J Dia will continue to look into this ability to graduate early; possibly in the summer. It would help those who want to go into the military but have not been able to join due to their diploma status.

Tony

Looking at getting the LIFE program restarted. The Chamber is setting up a program Husfelt and Bay District supporters: 9am - 5pm summer program can probably take in 50 kids depending on the volunteers that step up.

Janice

Need social distancing protocols. This week had the 1st 21 yr old COVID case. Premeds and others bound for healthcare careers will be presenting. Testimonials on FB from people who have COVID.

J Dia

SBA checks your business credit, and you must have state registration, Federal tax ID, have to have filed taxes within the last 3 years  Florida has a code that you need. It is the code you file each year to re-register your business.

Donna

They haven’t decided if they are going to accept second wave applications.

J Dia

PPE Payroll Protection. Banks and the PPE electronic banks beat them to the punch so SBA may not be available through brick and mortar banks.

Janice

Glenwood has residents that work primarily in Health, retail and hospitality

Tony

Governor is speaking about positive now go into quarantine or hospital and test positive again. The retest positives should not be counted multiple times. Can only ramp up to 180 beds in Bay Co, so it’s impossible to accomodate if we have an exponential rise.

Why Kemp mandates restaurants reopen. Business interruption funds don’t get paid. Unemployment insurance draws from the small business owners and not the state. The governor can’t cover the bill, so they are reopening the state out of financial need. THis will be bad for small businesses and good for the large businesses. The small businesses may open, but the business traffic isn’t there to even pay the staffs.

Last year there was interest in a micro loan program. The role of the LEAD coalition is to convene, collaborate and deliberate to see if the energy is there for something to happen. Determine a path to move people along the spectrum with their business ideas
