Many more U.S. seniors are getting COVID shots this year -- CDC

Nearly 4 in 10 seniors have gotten a COVID-19 vaccine so far this year, new survey data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests, marking a steep increase in vaccination rates compared with the same time last year.

For older patients, Paxlovid cuts COVID hospitalization, death risk and speeds symptom relief --two new studies

New findings from two studies have tied use of the antiviral drug nirmatrelvir-ritonavir (Paxlovid) to a reduction in COVID-19 hospitalizations and death, as well as to faster resolution of symptoms and less use of healthcare resources.

Benefit seen only in older patients

ALLAHASSEE - The number of Florida resident deaths linked to COVID-19 this year is nearing 5,500, according to data posted on the state Department of Health website.

Meanwhile, cases are the lowest since the pandemic began in 2020.

'Very High' COVID Virus Levels Detected in Wastewater in 5 states --CDC

High" levels of viral activity are also on the rise with detections now in five U.S. states, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

"Very high" levels of viral activity have been detected in Montana, with "high" levels in Arkansas, Maine, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wyoming.
