This is copied to partners in NAACP and M4C and Santa Rosa - Will each of you spread the text between the ******** lines and send to everyone who can lend a hand by coming and/or communicating to any communities in the area that can be reached - letting them know to bring whatever transportation that they can to return to their churches, schools, meeting houses, civic organizations. and or come to help where we can is this massive supply. Whatever vehicle you can bring, it will be FILLED for the people in need. Ice, water, food and more.
Im sorry for what seems like late notice, changes have been made in the staging location, but the caravan of help from TYSON FOODS is already on the scene helping out and some materials will be given away as early as this evening. So encourage everyone you know who cares about helping our communities help and volunteer.

Hello Terra,
The Light needs a writeup about the work UUs are doing with Hurricane Michael. I am copying Bill on this to see if he has anything to add. The stuff in quotes is what I suggest for a write up if Bill agrees. Speak up, Bill!

"UUJustice Florida has been working for several years with a group called Resilience System. They have set up a communication network in central and south Florida and now are reaching to include us here in the Panhandle. They function on many different levels in areas of need after a disaster of any sort. Here specifically they are working on hurricane relief. What they do is set up a fast flexible communication network to let people know what is going on and where. They have lots of different areas of expertise. Right now they are deploying university students to identify people in need of services, to collect data and spread information about where help is available. The data will be collected and shared with agencies who provide help in order to improve future disaster responses. The main people this group is looking for are minority neighborhoods and neighborhoods of immigrants. These are groups that are more likely to be overlooked by the larger agencies, or who might be frightened to come forward or not know how to find help. They are looking for what is going on in the disaster areas to find gaps or unequal outreach in services. There are daily conference calls with updates about what is actually going on, with traveling members of the group reporting in. They are largely funded by grants.
Since Pensacola did not suffer grave damage we are in the network for future needs as well as current offerings. One significant current offering we have is Brian Hansen's Tyson relief capacity. He immediately mobilized the resources and capacity of that large organization and brought food and water to Panama City eastside suburb of Callaway, Fl Walmart Supercenter, 725 N Tyndall Pkwy, Panama City, FL 32504 parking lot on October 15th to begin offering hot meals and take-home packages of food. We are all proud of Brian! We have also provided local networking with Movement for Change, NAACP and others.
Safest route with fewest turns and construction is to take I-10 eastbound all the way to US 231, turn southbound and follow all the way to to Fla Hwy 30A which starts out going east, then curves south, the Walmart is on the right near E 7th, look for Jimmy Johns and Starbucks on the left side.
Wrappers and packagers are needed asap early on TUESDAY AM and activities will continue into Saturday. Packing and wrapping til 1PM AND DISTRIBUTION FROM 1 TIL 4.
WE WILL KNOW SHORTER ROUTES BACK AND FORTH AFTER THE FIRST DAY, THIS WILL GET EASIER.
COME AND IF YOU ARE STOPPED AT ROADBLOCK OR CHECKPOINT, TELL THEM WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND WHY AS PER THIS NOTE. PRINT A COPY AND TAKE IT WITH YOU.
In December our 5th Sunday plate will go to Hurricane Michael relief. The decision of where the money will be donated can be decided at the Social Justice meeting on October 28th after the service. "

The Loaves and Fishes Ministry restocking at Tyson Foods
Hi Bill,
I received an email from Clair Martin. David and I stopped in when they were getting ready to serve dinner the other day. We stayed for awhile, and I surveyed a couple of people. Clair is with the Chaplain Ministry of Christian Aid Ministries that is a group of Amish folks serving 1,000 to 1,400 meals a day at Bristol Christian Church (Rt. 12 at Rt. 20). He is looking for more information about what foods will be distributed by Tyson.I gave him the information that I had, which was "frozen and uncooked fresh foods."
If you have any information about what the food is, could you please contact him directly?
He is Clair Martin. Cell: 715-699-0673
